10/5/2008 U9 Wanderers 5 - Downs Barn Tigers 0

The boys from Woodside played some outstanding football and came away with a massive win in this the last game of the season. Woodside dominated throughout the game in every area of the pitch, even though due to injuries, they were forced to play with their regular striker in goal and regular keeper up front. Ross Janes in goal coped very well with everything that came at him, once again the defensive partnership of James Wright and Tom Herbert kept the visitors at bay throughout the match. In midfield Jack Viera, Sean Hull, Brandon Whalley, Jamie Pickup, Dan Davidson and James Heggarty constantly closed the opposition down and played some lovely passing football. While up front Luke Orlando and Nat Goodlad tormented the visitors defence and had plenty of chances on goal. By half time Woodside found themselves 4 – 0 ahead with goals from Brandon 2, Luke and Sean. The visitors came out very determined in the second half and this proved a much more even affair, as the match was drawing to a close Brandon scored his third and Woodside’s fifth. An excellent performance, well done everyone, here’s looking forward to next season.

19/4/2008 Wolverton Tigermoths White 2 - U9 Wanderers 0

For the second time this season Woodside have dominated the match against a very well organised Wolverton team but failed to pick up any points. Woodside travelled to this match missing four players but out played their opponents in every area. Playing against the wind and the slope of the pitch Woodside found themselves under a great deal of pressure throughout the first half but the defensive partnership of James Wright and Luke Orlando worked hard to keep Wolverton at bay, the few times they were beaten keeper Nat Goodlad was on fine form to keep the scores level. Woodside created the majority of chances on goal with some terrific passing from Sean Hull, Brandon Whalley, Jack Viera and Ross Janes but failed to find the back of the net. With only one substitute the boys from Woodside began to tire as the second half progressed and they were caught out after a great solo goal from the Wolverton striker. Josh Duffy then found himself in a great position but the through ball just failed to reach him. As the match drew to a close Woodside committed more boys forward to try and salvage a point from the game but were caught out as Wolverton broke quickly and with virtually the last kick of the game scored their second.

29/3/2008 U9 Wanderers 0 - MK City Tigers 2

This game was thoroughly enjoyed by both sets of fans and the boys from Woodside were very unlucky to not come away with at least a share of the points. The first half created chances at both ends and Woodside were unlucky not to take the lead after several terrific passing moves involving Josh Duffy, Jack Veira, Ross Janes, Brandon Whalley and Luke Orlando. At the back Woodside were very strong with some good saves from keeper Nat Goodlad and fine defending from James Wright and Saen Hull kept the scores level. The second half was played with the same spirit by both sets of players Woodside almost snatched a win late on when James Heggarty found himself in space and was unlucky not to score. With only a couple of minutes left to play and both teams seemingly happy to come away with a draw and a point each Heelands broke through and found the back of the net. Then as Woodside pushed forward Heelands doubled their lead with virtually the last kick of the game. Team – Nat Goodlad, James Wright, Sean Hull, Luke Orlando, Jack Viera, Brandon Whalley, Ross Janes, Josh Duffy, James Heggarty.

1/3/2008 Steeple Claydon Jrs 2 - U9 Wanderers 3

This match was played in difficult conditions with strong winds cutting across the pitch. Woodside, once again, started brightest and found themselves one up after about 5 minutes after a fine passing move involving Jack Viera, Sam Waite and Luke Orlando was calmly finished by Ross Janes. Steeple Claydon pressed hard and threatened the Woodside goal on numerous occasions, however, keeper Nat Goodlad made several great saves and some resolute defending from James Wright and Tom Herbert managed to keep the opposition at bay. But just before half time the pressure proved too much and Steeple Claydon scored twice in three minutes to take a 2 – 1 lead into half time. Woodside started the second half determined to get something from the game and upped their work rate, some good work from Jamie Pickup, Sean Hull, and debutant Brandon Whalley put Ross through again who doubled his tally and put the scores back level. A long kick found Sam, who burst down the left, beating 2 defenders. His long range effort somehow managed to slip under the keeper and restored the lead for the visitors much to the delight of Woodside’s faithful travelling supporters. Woodside were under great pressure as the match came to a close and some excellent defending managed to keep the scores as they were. In the dying minutes Woodside were awarded a penalty after some terrific passing involving James Heggarty and Josh Duffy. The resulting penalty was saved and this gave Steeple Claydon the hope, and in a frantic last couple of minutes the match was practically played in the Woodside half. The Woodside boys held out and came away with their second consecutive win in their new division.

23/2/2008 U9 Wanderers 4 - Harrold and Carlton Pumas 1

The boys from Woodside started the match very brightly and soon found themselves one goal up after some good midfield play from Sam, Luke and Jack and a calmly taken goal from Ross. The game was played at a high tempo throughout and there were chances at both ends but solid defending by James and Tom kept the visitors chances on goal to a minimum. Just before the half time break another good passing move involving Sean and Jamie set up Luke who doubled the lead. The second half started as the first had finished with both teams creating chances then after a goal mouth scramble Woodside failed to fully clear the ball and Harrold and Carlton pulled one back. Both teams worked tirelessly and just as the visitors seemed to be taking the initiative some quick thinking from keeper Nat found Sam with a long kick who broke through and scored Woodside’s third. With only a few minutes left after a good tackle by James the ball was picked up by Josh who played an inch perfect pass into the path of Ross who scored his second and Woodside’s fourth. This match was played with a great team spirit and all of the boys worked extremely hard to achieve this great result. Team – Nat Goodlad, James Wright, Tom Herbert, Sam Waite, Luke Orlando, Jack Veira, Jamie Pickup, Sean Hull, James Heggarty, Josh Duffy, Ross Janes.
